Social Affirmation

Gender is a spectrum

What is social affirmation?

“Social affirmation” is the term often used when someone is affirming their gender in the social sphere. It may include things like changing one’s name and/or pronouns, the coming out process, and changing how one dresses or presents. It also may include things like binding, tucking, or packing. Gender expression is unique to the individual – in fact, ALL individuals express their gender, whether you are cis, trans, non-binary, etc. Check out Trans Hub for dozens of resources about coming out, gender expression, and community experiences.
