Current Groups
Little Unicorns – Mondays
Little Unicorns is a weekly group intended for youth under 9 years of age who have expressed that they are LGBTQ+ or questioning. This group is not for young children of LGBTQ+ parents (unless they are themselves identifying that way) or for young cisgender/straight/nonquestioning children to learn about LGBTQ+ youth. While both of these are important, Little Unicorn’s purpose is to create safe space for LGBTQ+ youth to find and interact with each other while providing support and connection for the parents of our little unicorns. If you are interested in options for these other purposes please feel free to reach out. We will connect you to Andy Taubman, our director of youth services to explore other resources.

Gender Spectrum
Gender Spectrum is a weekly group for young people ages 14-23 who identify as trans, genderqueer, gender non-conforming, or are questioning their gender identity or expression. Anything is fair game if you decide on meeting topics—from coming out and relationships to fashion, politics, and pop culture. We meet every Monday from 4-5 pm. For more information, email programs@youthprideri.org
Adventurers’ Local 401
Join The Adventurers 401 every Tuesday at our center, from 2:30-5, for some Dungeons and Dragons! Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game.  For more information, email: programs@youthprideri.org
The group is open to youth ages 14-24.
The Way Out
The Way Out is a general open group with shifting and evolving topic material, commonly central to relationships (family, friends, and romantic), school/work, sexuality, and gender, fighting discrimination, mental health, and current events. The Way Out meets weekly, alternating between in person at YPI and on discord.
Queer Gourmet
Each week YPI staff will teach a new recipe along with foundational cooking skills that will help you make all your meals delish. After cooking we will package meals for you to take home and to share with other YPI youth. Staff will be able to answer all your questions from ingredients to what you need to where to get it. Registration required: www.bit.ly/ypiqueergourmet
Pride Side
We offer social space for our youth ages 10-13 weekly from 3:00-6:00 pm in person. This is a great opportunity for our younger youth to see each other and familiar YPI faces while also receiving support and participating in fun conversations. The topics are selected each week by the attendants but typically revolve around school, family, friends, and coming out.

Providence, RI. Sojourner House is credited with starting the state’s first Lesbian Advocacy Program (1995) and the first Gay Advocacy Program (2003) for victims of abuse.

Did you know that domestic violence occurs at similar (or higher) rates among same-sex relationships? Transgender survivors are more likely to face threats/intimidation, harassment, and police violence as a result of intimate partner violence than any other group of people. At Sojourner House, we understand that people who are additionally marginalized, such as LGBTQ+ individuals, are more likely to experience domestic violence and/or sexual assault, and often have a harder time accessing services due to stigma, discrimination, lack of resources, and societal biases. Our program is designed specifically to address the needs of LGBTQ+/queer survivors and to provide trauma-informed affirming advocacy.

Massachusetts. The Network/La Red is a survivor-led, social justice organization that works to end partner abuse in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, SM, polyamorous, and queer communities. Rooted in anti-oppression principles, our work aims to create a world where all people are free from oppression. The Network/La Red telephone support group specializes in serving adult lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer and transgender survivors of partner abuse. This group may fill in the gap for survivors who cannot attend an in-person support group for a variety of reasons, including but not limited to disability, illness, and geographic location, or the abuse itself.

Our support groups are held 3 to 4 times per year. Each cycle is made up of 8 weekly calls. Groups are generally held during weekdays and the time of groups is determined according to participant and staff availability.
